01 / THE CHALLENGE

The problem & workflow requirements.

Field technicians and tradespeople need mobile software that works reliably on job sites with clumsy touch targets, slow cell connections, and complex job checklists, without getting bogged down in administrative software.

02 / ARCHITECTURE & SYSTEMS

Technical decisions and design.

Fieldwork provides a today-first dispatch view with large touch targets (48px+), clear address directions, and step-by-step job checklists. Customer service histories and equipment notes are instantly accessible. Invoices generate locally with itemized line items.

03 / TRADEOFFS & RIGOR

Deliberate engineering choices.

Optimized for fast on-site entry on phone screens. Accepted scope remains frozen during active job execution to prevent accidental edits while gloves are on. Single-device local storage avoids offline sync collisions.

04 / SCOPE & REALITY BOUNDARY

What is real vs. simulated.

Fully operational client-side application populated with synthetic contractor jobs. Demonstrates real checklist completion and invoice calculation; no live GPS fleet tracking.
